Text Box: The benefits of application
tele-underwriting to you and your clients

FMI understands that waiting for an underwriting decision can be frustrating. In an effort to improve our service delivery system to you, our Financial Advisors and your clients, we have recently implemented application tele-underwriting to maximise our underwriting efficiency and improve our service turnaround times.

The following are various benefits that FMI’s tele-underwriting presents for you and your clients:

Time saving – FMI has reduced the turnaround time of your client’s underwriting process from weeks to a matter of days.
Increased disclosure – Tele-underwriting increases the quantity and quality of disclosure thereby giving our underwriters more accurate information.
Better decision making – The improved accuracy of information allows for less underwriting requirements, whilst improving risk assessment on your client.
Quicker commission payments – Due to the time saving, your client’s application can be assessed quicker and should the application be accepted, you could receive commission payments sooner.
Decreases the time you need to spend with your clients on the application form – The application form is shorter with the removal of the medical questions, saving you and your client time in addition to improving your productivity time with your client.
FAIS requirements and liability exposure - Application tele-underwriting will reduce liability of advice, while date collection is restricted to the same information required on the traditional application form.

Through tele-underwriting, FMI has created a balance to improve the turnaround on information collection while still respecting the relationship maintained with the client by the financial advisor.

FMI’s new tele-underwriting forms are now available to print and utilise at http://www.fmi.co.za/products.aspx. For more information on FMI’s underwriting process, please email Dennis Booysen on dennisb@fmi.co.za.
