Stories are all around us. Everyone is captivated by a good story. They are what challenges us, inspires us and propels action. It’s a way of connecting with people and sets the context of what we can relate to.
In honour of our 21st birthday, we wanted to capture 21 of the most inspiring client stories that we've been a part of over the past 21 years. With our red vintage Kombi, Gus The Bus, and 21 staff teams, we set out on a journey across the country to capture their stories in 21 short-documentary films. We’ve just wrapped up the filming and production is underway. We can’t wait to share these our 21 videos with you and to connect through the power of stories. Watch this space.

It was immediately clear that he has a bond with each and every person who he employs. But he wasn’t born a boss. In fact, he changed his own fate by rebuilding a failed business from the ground up.
Pat was as sweet and welcoming as could be, and the more we spoke, the more I liked her. She’s been with FMI since ’99 and that’s helped her get through a few periods when she was unable to work.
It was a lesson in challenging the odds, the power of positive people and the things that can be made possible when opportunity is within reach.
It was a difficult, humbling and enlightening experience with a man who’s keeping his chin up thanks to a trusting and effective partnership with FMI and, more importantly, his indomitable spirit.

The variety of clients we have at FMI amazes me nearly as much as the stories they have to tell! Today, I went to meet a client, Alby, who’s a farrier – a highly specialised person who makes and maintains horseshoes!
Life’s best lessons often come from unexpected places. Take this most recent story for example – the FMI team headed out to meet a client who’s a herbal entrepreneur.

Well, this JHB-based client, Cornelia, who we met today was certainly one of those special people. But, aside from a gregarious spirit and marvellous hospitality, she also told us her moving story of persistence and determination.

The team headed out to Salt Rock, KZN to meet up with one of our #21Lives clients, Damien, whose story – and hobby – got our hearts racing. Now I've been told not to give too much of each of the #21Lives stories away, but I can tell you this ones' areal cracker.
The FMI team and I embarked on an adventure to go and celebrate the launch of the schools first library thanks to the Learn Project. Over the last 21 years we’ve partnered with people to protect their futures.
